The Swellies
About This Spot
Nestled right on the edge of Port Dinorwic Marina, The Swellies exudes the easygoing charm of a seaside breakfast nook where the rhythm of the water and the chatter of early risers set a gentle, welcoming pace. Stepping inside, you’ll find a place that feels both familiar and a little like a well-kept secret—a cozy corner where the world slows just enough to savor good company and honest food made with warmth.
The atmosphere here is quietly vibrant, touched by natural light and the occasional breeze drifting in from the marina. It’s the kind of spot where locals and curious travelers converge, drawn not just by the view but by the inviting hum of genuine hospitality. A dog-friendly vibe adds to the relaxed community spirit, making it easy to linger over a mug of something comforting or a fresh, thoughtfully prepared bite.
Menu offerings unfold like a conversation reflecting the tides of the day—comforting breakfasts with a thoughtful twist, from rich, smoky plates that linger with you, to lighter, colorful choices that brighten the morning. There’s a sense of care that threads through the flavours, whether it’s the crispness of a veggie sandwich or the sweet pause of a coffee cake alongside a perfectly made chai latte. Every dish feels like a personal invitation to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures of breakfast by the water.
The Swellies shines not just in its food, but in the warmth of its people. The welcoming energy from the team invites both familiarity and discovery, transforming casual visits into meaningful moments. Whether you’re pausing en route or settling in to savour the marina views, the atmosphere holds a quiet joy—the kind that lingers well after you’ve left your seat.

We stopped in randomly on route to Bangor (currently staying in Porthmadog for week), decided to have a cheeky little breakfast/ brunch for our anniversary, and found this gorgeous little place on Google literally as we were passing through. WOW! The Best find ever! Gorgeous little cafe right on marina, lovely spot. Jade and Geri truly made our brief, unplanned visit here absolutely wonderful with their welcome, friendliness and attentiveness, and the food and coffee were a great added bonus! We arrived just in time for breakfast, and we can honestly say the food was 10/10! Scrumptious! Great portion sizes at reasonable prices, beautifully tasting, great location and atmosphere = WINNER! Thank you Jade and Geri for the warm welcome and thoughtful anniversary treat. Keep being your beautiful selves!

Gorgeous little cafe near the harbour, lovely food for brunch and dog friendly, a win all round! The pancakes are amazing, very large portion and perfect for a sweet breakfast. The staff were also really friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Thank you for a fab brunch!

Amazing little find as we were driving back from Wales after a mini break. We visited on a Monday afternoon and the weather was lovely so we might have been lucky as we had pick of the seats. Staff were incredibly attentive and very cheery which was lovely. Food was the absolute highlight though and this is for a place surrounding by a gorgeous harbour. Will definitely be recommending to any of my friends driving down this way and will visit again for sure!

Lovely little place. Service was superb. We ordered 3 dishes, chicken burger, steak wrap, and the missus had some healthy hummus looking this on toast. I can’t talk for the latter as only ate the other 2. The burger batter was nice, and burger was obviously made with quality ingredients but was missing something, but close. Don’t get me wrong, it was very good, just not great. The family commented on the salad being nice, for me, it’s a very UK style salad presentation which I’m not a fan of but apparently it was nice to eat. The steak wrap, my daughter said was nice and ate most of it. I had a few bites and it was nice, just the odd chewy bits I found but normally it’s my daughter who points the chewy bits out and she didn’t mention it, so I must have just been unlucky. The flavour was good. Coffees good also, as was the hot chocolate. Plenty of hot drink choices. I’d definitely go again, great spot, great staff, very good food.
